Chambers Plan History

The Chambers Plan started in 1970 when it was clear that smaller businesses were having trouble acquiring group benefits for themselves and their employees. In a joint effort between the Chambers in Manitoba and the private sector, the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan was formed. Today it runs under the direction of the not-for-profit Chamber Insurance Corporation of Canada.

Over the 35+ years of plan history, Chambers and Boards have continued the tradition of cooperation, working in concert with plan agents appointed exclusively to their territories. With marketing tactics adapted to each area's unique circumstances, agents and managers conduct a whole range of activities. They exchange referrals, coordinate mailings and insert Chamber Plan ads in Chamber publications, to name a few.

The Chamber of Commerce Group Insurance Plan has a long and distinguished record of prompt service, comprehensive coverage, and competitive rates. The Chamber of Commerce Group Insurance Plan is the largest small business program in Canada and insures over 27,000 business owners and their employees.
Canada's Leader in Health Benefits for Business

The Chambers Plan delivers more than a typical group plan. Introduced in 1970 specifically to address the needs of small-to medium sized firms, The Chambers Plan now serves over 27,000 businesses from coast to coast – making it the largest of its kind in Canada.
